HUG & LOVE KEY

Created as a first step toward eradicating hate.

There is a common thread connecting the negative actions of today’s street thugs, who are wrecking communities throughout America with senseless violent acts, and those individuals who have committed serial killings, school shootings and other acts of terror, hate or rage. The link connecting these anti-social behaviors is that the perpetrators of these kinds of conduct never secured a bond with a parent or guardian during their upbringing. Charles Manson, the 1960’s cult leader sent his followers on a murderous rampage in California that included the brutal murder of Hollywood actress Sharon Tate. Timothy McVeigh detonated a bomb in 1995 at a federal building in Oklahoma that killed 168 innocent people, including babies and children. Lashawn Marten, in 2013, spewed his hatred of Caucasian people just before sucker punching three random adults on a street in New York City, where one man died from his injuries related to that assault.

These men - all convicted of these atrocious crimes - received inadequate nurturing and affection from their parents and/or guardian as related in their biographies. Could these tragic incidents have been avoided if these men had securely bonded with their parents by receiving proper nurturing and affection? Anyone may argue that point but the information* that is available today supports the idea that children who grow up feeling secure in the love between them and their parents, or caregivers, are more likely to develop positive attitudes, and become productive citizens as adults.

Promoting and encouraging families to incorporate the Hug and Love Key into their daily lives will benefit all communities by decreasing acts of hate and other anti-social behaviors.

Hug and Love Key is an emotional tool created to secure the bonding process between parents and their children; decreasing the likelihood children grow up controlled by hateful, antisocial influences. Thereby, becoming an asset to society rather than a burden.

The Hug and Love Key involves a parent or primary caregiver of a child – preferably the biological mother – embracing their child or infant, at least once daily, with a hug and then looking directly into the child’s eyes while saying to them “I love you”. Love is the glue securing this bond.

This daily expression of unconditional love – geared toward creating a secure bond between a parent and a child – should become a ritual in all children’s lives; starting at infancy or after a caregiver assumes responsibility for a child and continuing into adulthood.
